Music Time

Here's the (ridiculous) music video that one of the youth spearheaded: he was the director, recruited his video actors and worked with our associate pastor on editing things down. Prepare yourself...

We'll be playing this video during 11:00am Worship Service at Lake Country Baptist Church on July 4th! Sure it's funny to watch this at home, but laughter is so much more infectious and fun when you're in a large group. Come out and join the Lake Country family this Sunday!

Bust Out the Bolo Ties

Vacation Bible School is less than two weeks away! We have a great crew of cowpokes who've been answering the call to come out to Saddle Ridge Ranch, but can't wait to see more of you join us in learning more about God.

All the Cowboys, Cowgirls and Wranglers are getting things ready at the ranch to welcome all of you and teach you Bible lessons, new songs, fun games and cool crafts. We've had a few ranch hands busily working on a special music video for you all, but until then...check out what we stumbled upon!

Paint Stains and Sawdust

Thank you all who were able to make it out last Saturday and help make/do/organize things during the VBS Work Day!

We had a nice small group, but they were absolute work horses - countless knots were tied to make wooden frames, coats and coats of brown paint were brushed onto foam board and many good ideas were exchanged for other props & decoration pieces. Unfortunately, I didn't get any shots of them in action (except good ole Don Hughley working the sabersaw) but here are a few pictures of the fruits of their labor:

We'll definitely have to get more pictures of folks working together at our next VBS Work Day (Saturday, June 19th from 9am-1pm) and get more people to come join us!

Happy trails to you...

VBS Work Day: Saturday June 5th

Our first VBS Work Day is rounding around the corner: Saturday, June 5th from 9:00am - 1:00pm at Lake Country Baptist Church.

This time will be dedicated to creating/building the props and decorations that will be used to transform the church into Saddle Ridge Ranch! We'll be cutting out shapes, painting foam board, building set designs, outlining pictures, and making what not...

Construction Crew: if you can make it, please bring along your saber saw or jig saw so that we can cut out things from the insulation foam boards and plywood boards. If you already have things made ahead of time, bring that along so that others can help with adding the finishing touches of paint details. And if you hang around long enough, I'm sure you might even get to build somethings that randomly pops into someone's mind!

Arts & Crafts Extraordinaire: come paint stalagmites and stalagtites, outline oversized cowboy boots in black, trace and cut out horse shoes...anything! If you love the smell of sharpies, the sound of scissors cutting through paper, and the vividness of paints - - join us! We need your creativity and flair to bring to life all the ideas that are swirling about.

Room/Rotation Teachers & Assistants: come connect with the "behind the scene" workers of VBS...bring any prep things you need done for your lessons, and find willing hands to work alongside you. Got a vision for how you want your room to look? Partner up with a Crew member or an Extraordinaire and see what can happen when all the talents & abilities are combined!

So you didn't officially sign up to help, but have that day free? Then, please, JOIN US! Come see what folks are doing for the upcoming VBS and maybe discover how you can use your own gifts to serve God in a way that you may have never imagined. Trust me...there are plenty of stories and laughter (stuff of great frienships) that come from shared looks of pain when you're cutting out yet another horse shoe or drawing wood grains on another sheet of brown butcher paper.

Drop in for an hour or stay for the whole time allotment - have fun, share ideas, cross of items on lists and lighten the collective workload. If you have any questions or suggestions, drop an email to LakeCountryBaptistVBS@gmail.com, post a comment on our Facebook page (become a fan!), or talk to our VBS Director (that'd be Leslie P.) sometime this week.

Calling All Artists

Are you an illustrator? A drawer? Maybe a sketcher? Or even a doodler? Well, well, well...we here at the VBS planning house would gladly appreciate tapping into your talents. There are currently volunteers staining paper (making them all yellowed and old looking), which will need to have pictures on them!

The plan: hang up Western-themed artwork made by the talented folks of Lake Country Baptist (be you adult or youth or children) around Saddle Ridge Ranch to make things even more unique and personal! Think: horses, tumbleweeds, cowboys, cattle, etc...

The need: people who are willing to make the plan come true! Instead of doodling in class on your assignment or drawing something on that meeting agenda, why not put that lovely image on a sheet of paper we could use for VBS?

If you're interested or know of a talented artist waiting to burst onto the scene, email the VBS Director (Leslie) at LakeCountryBaptistVBS@gmail.com or give her a call* and let her know how you'd like to get involved (check out the Dates to Know tab and see if you can stop by one of our VBS Work Days).

Happy trails to you...

*Leslie's number is in the 2010 Spring Directory or just grab a hold of her Sunday morning!

Don't Forget to Register!

It's great and all that you've come to our site to find out what VBS is all about; to see if you could help in any way; and to even make notes on the dates that you need to know.

But don't forget to register! It's never too soon to get your lil' cowpoke signed up for a great week of learning who God is and the amazing ways He cares for all of us. It's a fun, free time for kids to be together and taught the good stuff in life!

Happy trails to you...
